Day 1: Zanzibar – Tarangire National Park

Morning: Flight from Zanzibar to Arusha

Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your professional safari guide who will take you on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.

Game Drive in Tarangire National Park

Once you arrive at Tarangire, enjoy a thrilling game drive across the park’s diverse landscapes. Tarangire is home to a vast array of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. Keep an eye out for the park’s unique tree-climbing lions and migratory birds.

Lunch at a Picnic Spot

Midday, you’ll stop for a picnic lunch within the park, surrounded by the stunning scenery and sounds of the African wilderness.

Afternoon Game Drive and Transfer to Karatu

After lunch, continue your game drive, searching for more wildlife, before leaving the park in the late afternoon. You’ll then travel to the nearby town of Karatu, located on the foothills of the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you’ll check into your safari lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Zanzibar

Early Morning Departure to Ngorongoro Crater

Start your day early with a hearty breakfast, and then head towards the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, often referred to as the “Garden of Eden,” boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the planet.

Crater Descent and Game Drive

Descend into the crater for a half-day game drive, where you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos. The crater’s diverse ecosystem supports a wide range of animals, including hippos, wildebeests, zebras, and flamingos around Lake Magadi. Keep your camera ready as the wildlife viewing here is truly spectacular.

Picnic Lunch in the Crater

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor, surrounded by one of the most breathtaking backdrops in Africa.

Afternoon Transfer to Arusha and Flight to Zanzibar

After your game drive, ascend from the crater and start your journey back to Arusha. From there, you’ll catch your return flight to Zanzibar, arriving in the evening.
